07/07/2012 - Fluke Fishing on OOAL

07/07/2012 - Fluke Fishing on OOAL

Well, time for another fluking adventure aboard OOAL out of Keyport, NJ!
This time we have Socks, Mike, Ron, Greg, and newcomer to the group Bill in on the action with JR behind the wheel!
Get ready it's gonna be BLAZING with temps predicted to break the 100 degree mark!

So let's tell the day's tale!

The morning started off with some nice scenery!

As Socks prays to the fluke gods...or was observing the black cloud that always seems to hover over his head...SCHLEPSOCKS!!! haha

Ron, coffee and a smile, ready to beat on some flatties!

Bill...with the most badass mustache I've seen all season!

Vongas, always smiling!

Mike, feelin fruity!

And JR...with a secret inside out shirt...more on that later!

And we can't forget the Thermacell butane and pads...of course we didn't actually have a Thermacell unit to put them in...but...haha

Little more scenery on the ride out...

The sun rising...

There she is!

Mike saw that sun come up and with the predicted high temps...immediately went into all out desert camel mode attempting to replenish and retain as much water as possible for the day!

After rehydrating himself, Mike is excited to tell us about...this one time...at band camp...

OK, it's about time to do some fishing...nice!

But not before JR flips his shirt around!
All we heard last week was how Socks wanted a t-shirt, and we saw Derek out there on the water and talked about how Socks didn't get a t-shirt from him either.
JR managed to get one! haha

Socks has some big time envy going on!

So we did a little fishing...Mike catching some fluke...

JR bucktailing a winter flounder even!

Even a little 4 spot coming on board!

And of course, the day wouldn't be complete without...you guessed it...Sockajawea, now known as Tanlgejawea, all up in everyone's line!!!

In all fairness, he wasn't ALL tangles!  After returning via helicopter from his stunt work on the A-Team set (you know, those 100% white actors they tried to make look like Fidel Castro...and note the hat is still in action), Socks did manage to land a nice keeper or two! haha

Well the 100 degree temps rolled in as the wind died and we were COOKIN out there!
We managed to pick away at the fish pack a cooler full of the fluke and seabass before we all melted! haha

Another fun day aboard OOAL, fishing was tougher than normal and the heat was brutal but we still had a great time (minus the 37 times Socks tangled all of us)! haha
Until next time!
