08/19/2012 - Fluking on Barnegat Light Beach

08/19/2012 - Fluking on Barnegat Light Beach

Stan and I have been talking about going fishing since I started crossfit months ago!
Well we finally put together a last minute trip to the beach to do a little surf fishing and give Stan a chance to try out his new speargun!

Here's a few pics from the trip...

My first fluke of the day...

Word on the water is...girl LOVE the rainbow shorts!

Stan started with the rod and reel, which lasted all of 5 minutes...he wanted IN the water ASAP!
Curly Hair Just Don't Care!

After his first attempt at spearfishing...
Seriously, that Mocha Chocolate Almond Kashi bar was totally Paleo...I swear man!

Some scenery...

I was moving our stuff up to higher ground when this guy start cruising the edge...snapped a few pics on as much zoom as I could get out of my point and shoot!
Here's a crop...

And here's the sequence...

A little later...Stan trying to find his fish haha

Ohhhh yeah! FOUND IT!!!

Phew, someone was in all out panic mode diggin like a German Shepard! haha

Stan's first fish with the spear gun and his first tautog! Awesome!

Alright, that's all I have on the day.  We fished pretty hard for quite a few hours and had a good time...I'll definitely do that again.
I hardly ever fish from the beach anymore, usually always out on a boat somewhere...but this was a nice chance of pace and a relaxing way to spend the afternoon!
Next time I'm grabbing a mask and snorkel to join in on the spearfishing fun!

08/06/2012 - Anton Brothers' Memorial Golf Outing

08/06/2012 - Anton Brothers' Memorial Golf Outing

Each August, friends and family gather in memory of the lives of two great men, two great sons, two great brothers...Matt "Bucky" Anton and his older brother Jim Anton.
They were taken from this world way too soon, and I think I'll start this blog with some words my good friend Adam Wong posted on his Facebook the night before this event as he reflected on our friend Bucky.

Tomorrow is the Anton Brother's Memorial golf outing.
I think about my buddy Bucky all the time.
He was the short, fair skinned, freckle faced Irish kid who became like a brother to me after shooting me with his BB gun as I rode through Stonehurst one day.
We shared so many of the moments, that I remember, as some of the best times in my life.
His house became a second home to many of the guys who are still my best friends today.
His mother was so loving, so accepting, and so understanding to how teenage boys are growing up that I still to this day call her Momma Singer.
A lot of time has passed but my memories of him have never faded.
I wish my wife and son could have had the privilege of meeting such a wonderful person.
I've been taking my son to see him in his final resting place since before he could walk and I look forward to telling him all the crazy times we shared and what true friends are all about...

I don't think I could have said it any better than Adam did.

Many of us played a round in memory of Bucky and Jim that day, and below are a few of the shots our group took a long to way.
We had a great day on the course, reminiscing about times with our childhood friend Bucky.
We even had a little iPhone stereo hooked up to play some old tunes we all jammed to back in the day...you know the ones!
Well here's a few to reminisce and enjoy anyway...

Luniz - I Got 5 On It

Warren G - Regulate ft. Nate Dogg

Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day

Snoop Dogg - Who Am I (What's My Name)

The Notorious B.I.G. and Bone Thugs N Harmony - Notorious Thugs

And here's a few pics from the day...

Of course Adam would have this bag...

Some nice scenery before we hit our drives...

The boys, Taco mid swing, Rich chillin, and Adam on his phone

Adam was very proud of this shot on the "Hole in One (wins a car)" hole.

Rich, me, and Taco

Adam, eying up a shot

These guys really wanted that ball!

Very scenic...

Richie, coolin off in the hot summer heat!

Back at dinner...Taco cleaning up on the door prizes!

Richie, Ryan, me, Adam, and Taco at dinner...missing Bucky and wishing he was in that pic with us!

Well that's all for this post, just some great memories and a great day spent with friends.
Until next year's outing...

08/04/2012 - Pennsylvania Deer in the Backyard

08/04/2012 - Pennsylvania Deer in the Backyard Just a couple quick shots I snapped at my parent's place in PA this weekend. Dad set up a salt lick in the back yard and this doe and her two fawns came in for a couple minutes. By the time I got the camera set up and ready, the fawns disappeared into the woods and the doe hung around for just a couple quick snaps. Here's a few crops from the set... Here she is hitting the block (distracting foreground, was trying to shoot under the clothes lines!) And a couple other shots as she cruised along the edge of the yard...she actually heard the shutter clicks from a good 50-60 yards away...incredible!
