06/15/2007 - UBNJ Golf Outing at Cream Ridge, NJ
Well I just got back from Chicago the night before, but took off from work to venture out on the golf course for my first round of golf this summer. I have to admit, I suck at golf. This is only my third round ever, but the game is ridiculously addictive and equally frustrating...but I'm determined!
I'm running late, but meet up with Bill, John, and Roly right at tee time...but only after I bought a box of golf balls in the pro shop because I knew we'd (mainly I'd) need them! Course is nice, a lot of water hazards which claimed a ball or ten of mine. The round was a shotgun start and we started on Hole 18, I wasn't keeping score for myself because lets face it...it wouldn't have been pretty. We played best ball for the most part, and just had fun on the day. The morning was highlighted by a few good shots, tons of laughs, some standard hunting chat, and some comical pics. Halfway through our first 9, Bill had to leave for work...but we were joined shortly afterwards by Matt T. He hasn't golfed much either, so he fit right in. We stopped for lunch after the 9th hole, and commenced with the remainder of the course. Bill eventually joined us a few holes later and finished up the course with us. Again more comedy and more laughs on the back 9!
Finally, we finished up with a great dinner: a nice juicy steak, baked/quartered potatoes, and string beans. We sat with the Sportsman's Center boys and BSed as we ate. Then Jack did the prize raffles, and somehow my ticket was either called and I didn't hear it (although I was listening intently) or it didn't land in the bucket because I arrived a tad late. No biggie, it was funny to witness the antics of who would get called last...or in my case, not at all! I did still get a prize though, the UBNJ always makes sure everyone in the room does at such events! Then they had the 50/50 raffle, but I didn't win
Overall, the UBNJ put on another great event, and I'm sure everyone had a great time. Nothing like spending a day outdoors and out of the office with good friends.

Apparently the maintenance guys at the golf course were slacking on this hole, so Matt stepped in with his knife to help out...
