04/15/2012 & 04/16/2012 - NJ Trout Fishing

Well I spent another beautiful weekend on the Musky...going solo Saturday and then meeting up with Adam, Rich, Kev, Ryan, and Chris on Sunday for a little bit of spring time trout fishing!
I'll break the pics from each day...let's check em out!

04/15/2012

So I started off at my usual haunt, greeted by a sunny morning at a balmy 35 degrees!  I knew they stocked on Friday, but given there were only two trucks at this spot I know it was going to be really good...or really bad!  Turns out it was the latter...I worked the stream section quickly to see if there were some fish around but it was slow only seeing 1 fish caught for the 4 of us that were in the area.  I promptly moved on to another spot that I fished last week and had better action.

The same cast of characters were there for another Saturday morning...but with a little lesser results.  I could see after the first couple fish they had stocked rainbows and they were being a little finicky.  Not much surface action at all despite the morning hatch unlike the previous weekend where brookies were breaking the surface left and right.

Fishing was still pretty good though...here's a few shots...

Nice little brookie to start things off...

Followed by a nice little rainbow...

And more of the same...mix of rainbows and brookies...no browns.

Interesting brookie...kind of mini footballish, just weird shaped...

And back to more bows...

Including this nice fat rainbow!

And then this sucker bit the line!

Little shot of the stream as I worked my way down...this little bend looked nice and I did manage to catch a couple from that area!

Well that was it for the day as I called it quits mid afternoon catching 36 trout before heading out to dinner with a friend at a nice Italian place in Morristown!
Perfect ending to the day!

04/16/2012

Back at it again early in the morning...but this time with some company!

The boys getting ready...

Adam, staying hydrated!

Ryan rigging up...

More shots of the guys getting ready before hitting the stream...

Kevin Q...aka Castro...tying on his gang colors?  Ohhhh right, that's a rag to wipe your hands with...uh huh! haha

Chris, ready for some action!

Richie Quon, always smiling!  Big fish MAGNET!

Group shot before hitting up the stream!

Adam is ALL concentration while baiting his hook!

Chris is already fishing...he doesn't waste any time!

And already catching too!

Rich and Ryan hustle into action before Chris catches them all!

Castro is just takin his time...laid back Kev Q!

Ryan already has a fish to the net while Rich is testing out his balance on the rocks!

Ryan's lovin it!

And Adam with his first fish of the day a short while later!

Then Richie is on...look at that FOCUS bringing the fish into the net!!!

Ohhhh yeah...dinner!!!

Well I decided to wet a line and caught this brookie with what looks like a claymore went off in his mouth...OUCH!

And a nice little rainbow...

Brookies...

And bows...

Things slowed down a bit...and after a longggggggggg 2 hours Adam HAD to eat...he was STARVING!!!  Can you say serious case of the munchies?  9:00AM Doritos in the house!

Well we all grabbed a little bite and then headed back to the stream for some more trout action!

Some nice brookies in the mix...

Cool water shot...

Nice colors...

Couple more brookies...

And a little scenery as we waded downstream...

And one final rainbow!

After that, we headed back on to the Quon household for a little BBQ action!
Of course...not before catching a little nap...

A little rest for a few of us, and then we were ready for some awesome BBQ...including this nice Rich Quon rainbow!

What an awesome way to end the day!
I must have ripped through $100+ in gas this weekend, but it was absolutely worth it!
Ton of fun and awesome to spend time with some guys I hardly ever get to fish with anymore...hope they can get out again soon!

Until next time...
